Dental
Xmile Forte
The new Xmile® Forte is a product formulated as an adjuvant for the daily care of sensitive gums in dogs and cats. The formula contains phytosphingosine, hyaluronic acid and zinc gluconate, which help maintain the integrity of the oral mucosa, along with taurine and natural extracts, to promote good dental hygiene. Contains 20 percent natural IgY-rich ovoextract, which helps prevent the appearance of dental plaque or tartar.
Its high mucoadhesiveness on teeth and gums allows application every 24 hours. Xmile® Forte is preferably applied with brushing, although it can also be used directly without brushing.

In the study published in The Brazilian Journal of Microbiology (2007), "Detection of putative periodontal pathogens in subgingival specimens of dogs," PCR analysis was performed on gingival tissue samples obtained from 40 dogs (25 with periodontal disease and 15 without signs of disease), yielding the following results in the samples with periodontal disease:
- 64% Porphyromonas gingivalis
- 36% Campylobacter rectus
- 24% Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans
- 20% Prevotella intermedia
- 20% Tannerella forsythia
- 16% Fusobacterium nucleatum
The prevalence of Porphyromonas gingivalis in samples from animals without periodontal disease was only 6.66%.
In short, plaque is nothing more than a biofilm comprising a large number of bacteria embedded in a matrix that makes them much more resistant to the action of antibiotics and antiseptics.
The antibacterial properties of saliva are an important factor in the oral defence system. This protective effect can be further enhanced by the regular use of toothpaste gels containing enzymes and other active ingredients that enhance the natural protection of saliva.
